Ward atlases of Philadelphia were produced regularly between 1871 and 1931, providing a graphic record of the city as it grew and changed. These city atlases mapped existing and proposed streets, buildings, property lines, and addresses. They also contained listings of the names of buildings, property owners and associated businesses, making them a valuable resource.
This map highlights Ward 15 and the footprint of what would become the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which was three years into construction at the time of printing.
