Bates Holiday Boxed Notecard Set
Celebrate the holiday season by putting pen to paper -- it might seem old-fashioned -- but shows you care! The inside of the cards are blank so you can include personalized messages for general seasonal greetings. And use the sturdy storage box for keepsakes or post you receive in return.
This card created by artist Kay Bates is part of a much larger collection of holiday cards that started with gifts of Carl Zigrosser, the museum curator of Prints and Drawings from 1940 to 1963, with ongoing gifts in his name up to the present.
Kay Bates has made Christmas cards for about 40 years because it always gives her joy to think of friends and family as she makes their cards. She usually makes collage cards from cards received the year before and friends, families, doctors all give her their cards at the end of the season. This particular card was made with ink stamps that her daughter had and they made this card together varying it as they worked. It was a special time to have with her daughter as they made these cards, so holds a special memory for them!
