Description
Namai is an independent, New York-based fashion brand founded by Bianca Kuttickattu in 2020. Bianca creates timeless, zero-waste clothing from repurposed antique Indian textiles that can be worn by people of all genders, all year round. Bianca founded Namai with the aim of creating one-of-a-kind pieces from pre-loved materials and embracing the informal beauty of clothing with a past life. Handmade from cotton vintage Kantha quilts sourced in Jaipur, this Jahi coat was designed to be treasured beyond transient seasonal trends. A one-of-a-kind piece, the coat reflects the original colors and patina of the recycled antique textiles with a light and age-softened feel. Designed with a loose flexible fit so one size fits most and is fully reversible with large roomy pockets on both sides. It’s left open with a button-free collar stand, for maximum versatility. The garment also features a mandarin collar, and cotton bias finishing on one side to highlight the shape and graphic lines of the seams. Richly textured Suzani embroidery onto the repurposed textiles used to make the Kantha quilts gives this item a bold and modern accent.
