Description

These stunning & unique table runners are printed using a process called eco-printing by the PMA's own Elizabeth Paolini.

Eco-printing is a form of natural dyeing that transfers pigments, tannins, and acids from plant matter onto fabric or paper in the form of a print. The process involves pre-treating natural fibers with a mordant to fix the plant matter to the fabric. Once the fabric has been prepared using various mordanting techniques, leaves and flowers are laid out on the fabric, rolled tightly, and steamed to create a unique plant print. Combining different mordants with various plants can create an array of styles and colors in the prints. Each piece is completely unique and made by hand using local, seasonal plants and flowers all changing with the seasons. Sometimes color is added using natural dye extracts to create depth and additional vibrancy.

Since these are made with natural dyes, they can tend to fade in direct sunlight. Care for them just as you would any type of delicate textile.
