After a successful career in advertising design, Kathleen Grebe set her sights to jewelry design. A forever fan of big fashion statements, Kathleen set out to create a new kind of bold. She built her own laser-cutting lab and began transforming flat sheets of material into jewelry. And from strong silhouettes, high contrast and unapologetic scale, Bold Standard was born. Bold Standard is known for both wearable art and word-driven jewelry— i.e. 'statement pieces' that literally say something. With a logo-like approach, Kathleen turns words into meaningful fashion statements, introducing typography with a sophisticated touch.
Kathleen was inspired by our own Boom: Art and Design in the 1940s to create a custom capsule for us. This 'arc' necklace was adapted from Bold Standard's ArchiText Collection. With rhythmic repetition and high contrast, this necklace offers a bold 'BOOM' statement that is also extremely comfortable.
