Description
Turner's imagination was sparked by shipwrecks and natural phenomena such as sunlight, storm, rain, and fog. Fire was another fascination and the burning of the Parliament in 1834, an event which Turner witnessed first-hand, was transcribed in a series of watercolor sketches and the painting in our collection.
