This is the exhibition catalog to accompany the first exhibition of Bose's work outside of Asia. The show was organized by the San Diego Museum of Art in 2008 and came to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the summer of 2008.
Known as the father of Indian modernism, Nandalal Bose, 1882-1966, worked in a variety of media, depicting classic Indian motifs as well as contemporary figures. He was an associate of Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore and was chosen as the first director of the art school at Visva-Bharati at Santiniketan in West Bengal.
