Description
Our exclusive keychain celebrates Rousseau's Merry Jesters. His best-known paintings depict jungle scenes, even though he never left France or saw a jungle. His inspiration came from illustrations in children's books and the botanical gardens in Paris, as well as tableaux of taxidermy wild animals.
Known for his fantastic scenes, Rousseau was a self-taught artist whose works appealed to the collectors and avant-garde artists of the early twentieth century, including Pablo Picasso.
