Inspired by works from Gee’s Bend, Alabama acquired by the museum in 2017 through the Souls Grown Deep Foundation, this exclusive collection of archival posters features digitally reproduced artwork licensed from esteemed Gee’s Bend artists, Delia Bennett, Annie E. Pettway, and Loretta Pettway.

The works created by the women of Gee’s Bend are among the most recognizable and beloved quilts worldwide. Integral to the cultural and historical identity of African American communities in the South, the women of Gee’s Bend crafted quilts in a distinctive style renowned for its vibrant improvisations and geometric simplicity. The quilts were often crafted from remnants of clothing, including a variety of work clothes and simple motifs of the day.
