Blackwing and the Philadelphia Museum of Art have teamed up to create this limited edition set of 12 golden pencils inspired by Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ sculpture of Diana which graces our Great Stair Hall. Each pencil is hot stamped in gold with Diana’s distinctive arrow, the iconic Blackwing shape even resembles an arrow shape when sharpened. Exclusive to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, these limited edition collectible pencils represent the first time Blackwing has used a golden eraser in one of their designs.
The Blackwing cult phenomenon dates back to the 1930’s and has been a long-time favorite of artists of all types including John Steinbeck, Leonard Bernstein, Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones, and Disney animator Shamus Culhane. The Blackwing pencil is easily recognized by the unique rectangular ferrule and known for its quality, Northwestern Cedar body and smooth- writing graphite.
Perfect for writing or sketching, these balanced graphite pencils come beautifully boxed telling the story of the Diana statue and are perfect for gift giving. It's lead is placed at a 3B grade.
