Description
This small batch of handcrafted ink was created as a portrait of a beloved crabapple tree. It lived for over 100 years in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia -- watching the passing of many seasons, offering shade and peace for many, witnessing the activities of generations of neighbors, and eventually losing a few limbs in a snowstorm in 2011, marking the the slow decline for the tree. In 2022, neighbors said goodbye to the crabapple tree, and bark from one small log was steeped in the summer sun to create this batch of vibrant yellow ink.
This limited edition handcrafted botanical ink is created by Ampersand Textile & Design for fine writing and drawing with dip pens and brushes. Contains the bark of a Mt. Airy crabapple tree, water, gum arabic, alcohol, and clove oil. While made of natural ingredients, this ink is not for consumption. Not suitable for fountain pens. Shake well before using.
Ampersand Textile & Design is a Philadelphia-based creative workshop producing handmade goods and art materials from reclaimed, natural, and thoughtfully sourced materials. Nicole Duprée is the primary designer, maker, and workshop facilitator for Ampersand Textile & Design.
