Description
Julie Woodard is a Philadelphia-based multimedia artist and educator. Using salvaged textiles, found objects, pigments, and thread, she creates impressionistic landscapes, sculptural installations, and wearable pieces that convey her passion for nature, memory, and creative reuse.
Julie's work pays tribute to her late mom and repurposes three generations of family heirlooms, which she threads together with cutting room remnants, secondhand scraps, and vintage frames. Through printmaking, natural dyeing, collage, and hand and machine sewing, and sculpture, these materials are reimagined into mountain ranges, ocean waves, animals, and architecture.
Her cityscapes and Good Bones rowhouse series celebrate the history and vibrant character of Philadelphia. Every skyline and stoop has a story. Every material is joyfully repurposed.
