By 1923, Construction on the new building had completed terracing of the granite hill on which the museum stands and had laid the now iconic “Rocky” steps. By 1925, the exterior masonry of the museum’s two wings had been completed.
Despite an immense amount of unfinished interior work, the new museum opened to the public on March 26, 1928.
