Description
Among Cassatt’ surviving pastel boxes are two flat wooden containers that have labels reading “Pastels a l’ecu”, a brand name of the Parisian colormaker Sennelier, founded in 1887. Gustave Sennelier, a devoted chemist, researched the history and usage of pigments to develop a distinctive process for manufacturing colors. Since that time artists regard the Sennelier palette as the ultimate standard of quality in oils, watercolors and pastels.
These premier artists' oil paints are made from only the highest quality traditional and modern pigments ground extra fine. Pure, first-press safflower oil is used for clarity and resistance to yellowing. They have a unique non-glossy "French" satin finish that is more natural looking than other oil colors.
The 12-Color Deluxe Wood Box Set includes 12 40ml tubes in titanium white, cadmium yellow lemon hue, yellow deep hue, permanent alizarin crimson, ultramarine deep, cerulean blue hue, chromium green deep, chromium green light, yellow ochre, raw umber and ivory black, two hog bristle brushes, a wooden palette, twin palette cups, a palette knife, assorted charcoals, two empty jars for turpentine and a Sennelier painting cloth.
