Description
Among Cassatt’s surviving pastel boxes are two flat wooden containers that have labels reading “Pastels a l’ecu”, a brand name of the Parisian colormaker Sennelier, founded in 1887. Gustave Sennelier, a devoted chemist, researched the history and usage of pigments to develop a distinctive process for manufacturing colors. Since that time artists regard the Sennelier palette as the ultimate standard of quality in oils, watercolors and pastels
This set features Sennelier's most popular writing colors combined into a set. It includes one 30ml bottle each of China, cobalt blue, sepia and walnut ink. This drawing ink is an excellent choice for drawing, calligraphy, quill drawings, washes or textile creations. The shellac-based colored ink is mixed with natural pigment, producing a high-quality color that dries to a lustrous satin finish. This color can be mixed others in the line, and can be reduced with thinner for various techniques. Color is water-resistant but not unremovable.
