Description
Philadelphia is home to many historic places but pehaps none quite as sweet as Shane Confectionary, the nation's oldest continuously run candy shop. Since 1863, Shane has used time-honored techniques, classic recipies and heritage equiptment to turn out the most delicious treats. In 2019 we collaborated with Shane on a chocolate bar that would honor the 100th year groundbreaking of the museum and the re-opening of the North entrance in anticipation of Frank Gehry's Core Project.
The colors and design of the packaging is pulled directly from our iconic architecture and features a pop of elegant silver foil. The chocolate is elegantly folded in an envelope style box, making opening this confection an experience in itself. The packaging's inside is just as delightful, and features a historic map of Old City, and details on the bar and a bit about Shane's history. The bar is wrapped in rich gold foil, is a delicious mix of both milk and dark chocolate, is ethically sourced, crafted bean-to-bar and formed in traditional 19th c. molds. As an added surprise, we mixed in pretzels from Shuey's in Lebanon, PA (since 1927) making this a truly local bar with the prefect balance of salty, sweet and crunch!
This bar is exclusively sold at The Philadelphia Museum of Art and Shane, with a portion of the proceeds going back to support the museum's mission.
Perfect for gifting, for party and event favors, or just a guilty pleasure.
