A German holiday tradition since the 1600s, Springerle cookies feature raised designs made with hand-carved molds. This multi-image mold celebrates American history! The first image features the Liberty Bell and the year "1776". The second image is Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted by America's Founding Fathers. The original mold was carved in 1876, presumably to celebrate the centennial of our nation's independence. This special mold has been hand-cast and carefully hand-finished. Truly an heirloom piece! Simply press the mold into the holiday cookie dough of your choice to emboss your cookies. Shortbread, gingerbread, springerle, and speculaas recipes work well!
