Description
This one of a kind coat is made from vintage quilts that have been embroidered using the Suzani embroidery method. Suzani is a type of embroidered that originated in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzani is from the Persian سوزن, Suzan, which means needle. The art of making such textiles in Iran is called سوزندوزی Suzandozi (needlework). The quilts are made with 100% cotton vintage sari (traditional Indian dress fabric) quilted by hand using multilayers. Quilts used are approximately 30-50 years old collected in rural villages of India and have been aged so beautifully. These vintage items may have patches and slight imperfections that add to the aged charm. May have some cuts/holes which have been mended over and over again.
