Howard Finster was born in Valley Head, Alabama and lived his entire life in rural Alabama and Georgia. He was called to preach at the age of 16 and thereafter devoted himself to expressing his beliefs through art, poetry and ministering for his church. The first art Finster created was woodwork when he built his own lathe at the age of sixteen or seventeen. He did not turn to painting until he was 60 years old. From age 60 until his death, Finster produced over 46,000 works of art. The art for this silkscreen was Finster's 6,855th work of art produced in 1987.
