Description

Utilizing the same technique that kept butter fresh before refrigeration, Maggy Ames' butter keeper immerses your butter in water, allowing you to always have soft, spreadable butter on hand while looking fabulous on your kitchen counter!

To use: pack the cup on the underside of the lid with butter, then fill the crock one-third of the way up with cold water. Invert the lid/cup into the water, creating an air-tight seal. When you're ready to spread, open the lid and set it on its wide, flat knob. Change the water every few days for the best results.

Maggy works in both porcelain and stoneware, her clay speaks two distinct but equally pleasurable messages.  With her porcelain, she strives for light, flow, and grace ‑ those things which bring a quiet smile, a sense of peace and tranquility.  These pieces have a function, but they often can be objects of beauty to be viewed as much as used.  With her stoneware, her first thoughts are of the user.  Is the piece intimidating or does it become part of the user's everyday life?  Does it sit austerely on a shelf or does it invite warm stews and steaming soups?  Maggy feels her stoneware should entice the user to believe that everyday utensils can be fine handmade works of craft. By working in both porcelain and stoneware, she believes she can offer more aspects of herself and her values as a potter.
