Description

Award winning sculptor/artist Stacey Lee Webber cherishes working with found materials-- often vintage coins-- whose history is physically evident. Based in Philadelphia, Stacey's work is often described as meticulous, pushing the boundaries of everyday recognizable objects to the point of unidentifiable. These vintage nickel circled cufflinks are hand cut of solid nickel. The Indian head nickel is a copper-nickel five-cent piece that was struck by the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938. It was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser. As part of a drive to beautify the coinage, five denominations of US coins had received new designs between 1907 and 1909. Each pin has a metal clutch pin back and sterling silver pin soldered onto the nickel.
