Small Leaf Salt-Fired Flower Brick by Samantha Bartlett
We were immediately drawn to Samantha Bartlett's playful salt-fired flower bricks, which were historically known to be one of the most popular vessels for floral arrangements in the 18th century. Samantha uses porcelain clay and flashing slips to create nature-inspired designs which are fired in a salt kiln to cone 10. Each piece is fired to high temperatures, while salt is introduced to produce a vapor that glazes the ware. Each flower brick is unique to each firing and environment creating a truly one of a kind colorway varying in shades of grey, orange and brown.
