Description
Noel-Nicolas Coypel's story of Jupiter transforming himself into a bull and abducting the princess Europa comes from a tale in Ovid's Metamorphoses. It represents a change from traditional classical painting. It was originally brought to Philadelphia in 1815 by Napoleon's brother Joseph Bonaparte.
