Description
Among Cassatt’ surviving pastel boxes are two flat wooden containers that have labels reading “Pastels a l’ecu”, a brand name of the Parisian colormaker Sennelier, founded in 1887. Gustave Sennelier, a devoted chemist, researched the history and usage of pigments to develop a distinctive process for manufacturing colors. Since that time artists regard the Sennelier palette as the ultimate standard of quality in oils, watercolors and pastels.
Sennelier French Artists' Watercolors offer a bright and lively palette based on the traditional colors of French Impressionists. Made using the finest pigments, Kordofan Arabic Gum, and honey, these watercolors produce brilliant colors with a smooth texture. Sennelier watercolors have been reformulated with increased honey content for enhanced radiance and luminosity. The honey also acts as a preservative to extend longevity.
