Description
Among Cassatt’ surviving pastel boxes are two flat wooden containers that have labels reading “Pastels a l’ecu”, a brand name of the Parisian colormaker Sennelier, founded in 1887. Gustave Sennelier, a devoted chemist, researched the history and usage of pigments to develop a distinctive process for manufacturing colors. Since that time artists regard the Sennelier palette as the ultimate standard of quality in oils, watercolors and pastels.
Professional acid-free and lightfast pastel board specifically designed for pastelists. A finely ground mixture of cork and vegetable flakes is applied to the surface of a 200 lb. card, offering a perfectly soft, uniform surface with a tooth that grabs and holds even the softest pastels. Unsurpassed performance for pastel, charcoal or pencil drawings. Each pad contains 12 sheets, two each of six colors.
