The natural red clay used to create these teapots are rich in iron, which means they absorb the bitter taste of catechins found in green tea. Because the pottery’s interior is fired without glaze, this allows the teapots to better absorb the bitterness by extracting more of the catechins from the tea, thus creating a more pleasant-tasting beverage.
